Jeep cars is electrified and bets on plug -in hybrids Jeep is electrified and bets on plug -in hybrids
To talk about all roads is to talk about Jeep. His history, just at the time they are celebrating their eightieth anniversary, is full of successes and their models in this segment have always been the most admired. Its robustness, its spectacular off-road capabilities or its unique designs have been and continue to be unmatched.
And now, in addition, they want to be more urban and sustainable, as highlighted by Paulo Carelli, the person in charge of the brand in Spain. Hence its firm commitment to plug-in hybrid versions, provided with the DGT “Zero” label, which make up the new 4xe range and which includes the Renegade, Compass and Wrangler models.
Likewise, the new Grand Cherokee, which will be launched next year, will only be sold in Europe with PHEV mechanics in order to consolidate its definitive commitment to the electrification of the entire range.
Microhybrid versions
Another novelty for 2022 is that both the Renegade and the Compass, in addition to the PHEV variants, will enjoy 48V microhybrid versions that will stand out for increasing the possibilities of use in electric mode, since it will also be possible to take advantage of the energy for parking maneuvers or at the start of the march in fully electric mode.
According to Carelli, the current 4xe already reach 15% of their total sales in Spain, a percentage that is encouraging them to increase their offer with this type of solution.
The range starts with the Renegade, an urban SUV that is offered in two variants, either with 190 or 240 horsepower and a range of 50 kilometers. Next, the Compass, the brand's compact, takes the same mechanical base and the two power levels.
From 36,000 euros
And the icing on the cake is the Wrangler. The iconic model of the brand goes to 380 horsepower as a result of the combination of a gasoline heat engine and two other electric ones. Precisely this solution will be used by the new generation of the Grand Cherokee and say that its benefits, also its economy of use, are superb considering the packaging of these bodies.
Regarding the charging capacity of the battery (17.3 kWh), it only takes 3 hours to enjoy 50 kilometers in zero emission mode. It should be noted that in all three models we have several driving modes (Hybrid, Electric and E-Save) in order to charge or maintain the battery or make a completely electric use.
As for its prices, the 4xe range starts with 36,905 euros for the Renegade, which becomes 40,986 euros in the case of the Compass, ending at 63,800 euros for the Wrangler. If we decide to finance the purchase, the American brand offers quite attractive fees (from 299 euros per month in the case of the Renegade and an entry fee of 7,500 euros) that include a 3-year warranty and maintenance and a year of all-risk insurance with a franchise of 150 euros.
