Until when can I return Christmas purchases? -NIUS
The passage of the Three Kings symbolizes a day full of magic and illusion, but also the end of Christmas. Despite his powers, his Majesties can also make mistakes, so it is common for some of the gifts to be returned or exchanged for others.
Despite the fact that most establishments have a return policy that is beneficial to the consumer, the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) recalls that the law does not oblige the seller to accept changes or returns under any circumstances. Thus, the conditions for returning gifts will depend on those set by the establishment in which they were purchased.
However, the regulations do require that you clearly inform the return terms and conditions before the purchase. This information must appear detailed on the purchase receipt.
What you should keep in mind before buying
The OCU advises that several aspects be taken into account before making any purchase:
What is the usual return period
Although each seller sets their terms and conditions, the big brands usually accept changes and returns up to a maximum of 30 days from the date of purchase.
However, some establishments extend this period during the Christmas season. For example, Media Markt, El Corte Inglés, H&M and Mango extend their return periods for all purchases made during Black Friday or the Christmas season.
In the case of a purchase over the Internet or outside the commercial establishment, there is a legal withdrawal period of 14 days.
Likewise, if the product is defective or does not meet the advertised characteristics, the consumer has the right to repair or replace it using the guarantee.
