Blow to the head of Los Monos in Rosario: Justice seized his family's phones for the school shootings
Ariel Máximo "Guille" Cantero, head of Los Monos , the largest criminal gang in Rosario, was sentenced eight times by the Justice of his province for various crimes from drug trafficking and threats and extortive kidnappings. He accumulates sentences for more than 95 years in prison. However, according to the accusations against him, he does not give up. Imprisoned in the Marcos Paz prison , he is accused of commanding his business from his cell , which would now expand to extortion and protection payments with recent shootings at schools and service stations. His statements can be incendiary. In the last trial against him, in which he was sentenced to 22 years in prison, he assured that he hired "to shoot the judges"
He was even investigated years ago for committing a crime with the pavilion's public telephone. Thus, his environment becomes key to his communications, from his phones and visits to the prison.
This morning, Rosario Justice, with prosecutors Matías Edery and Luis Schiappa Pietra , took a key step to hurt the organization in one of its most sensitive points. Gendarmerie, in direct dialogue, carried out six raids in Rosario. Among those raided are Vanesa Barrios, Cantero's former partner, as well as her mother, Patricia Celestina Contreras, and her father, also called Ariel, the original boss of Los Monos, today under parole.
They were raided precisely because of a series of shootings at two schools that have "Guille" as suspects.
All of their cell phones were seized , confirmed sources in the case to Infobae . However, the warrant did not include arrest warrants. Telephones may be inspected.
Barrios' home, in downtown Rosario, had a striking peculiarity. you were found armored glass and a security device "of pibitos" around the property that hindered any approach by the authorities. “That is why the operation had to be very hidden. You couldn't break in from the outside," says a researcher. The risk that they discover the raid in progress could lead Cantero's ex-partner, considered a possible lieutenant, to destroy the phones. Thus, the Gendarmerie entered the area in civilian clothing.
Cantero father, for his part, was not found in the raided place.
Six service stations, two schools, a union and two restaurants full of diners were shot at in Rosario between Tuesday, November 9 and Sunday, November 21. Curiously, none of the events prompted a police pursuit. There are multiple hypotheses for these attacks, one of them being the possible intellectual authorship of Cantero. There are sources who suspect that the chief of Los Monos Through the shots, he seeks to “negotiate” his transfer from the Marcos Paz federal prison to the Piñero penitentiary unit , in Santa Fe, where he has already been housed for some time.
The schools in question are Santa Isabel de Hungary, from Cafferata at 4000, in the west, and Crisol, located in Magnano at 6300, in the south.
