How is the house of Kurt Cobain that was declared a historical heritage in the United States

The childhood home of Kurt Cobain, where the famed Nirvana guitarist and vocalist lived from 1969 to 1984, was officially listed as a heritage site. Thanks to an administrative act by the Washington State Department of Archeology and Historic Preservation, the house is now part of the state's Register of Culturally Significant Heritage.

The house is located in the city of Aberdeen, on the west coast of the United States, and its owner is currently Lee Bacon, who told Rolling Stone magazine his plans to renovate the property so that it is exactly like when Cobain lived there.

To this remodeling will also be added souvenirs of the musician and a museum dedicated to his artistic career, which are 95% ready, according to a publication on the Infobae website.

Bacon and his wife purchased the home from the Cobain family in 2018 for $225,000. In 2019, Bacon told Rolling Stone that he had plans to begin restoration of the residence. That was how his project began.

At home some adjustments need to be made. One of these is to change the color of the façade, which is currently yellow, to paint it from its original color, which is like “a light colored fern and a dark mint color< /b>”. Inside the home are the Cobain family's original dining room table and china sideboard, as well as the mattress from his bedroom and the children's bedroom set that belonged to Cobain and his sister Kim. Per the Bacons' request, the kitchen maintains its “1970s plywood cabinets with canary-yellow Formica countertops”.

The Bacons have a key adviser to leave the house as it was in Cobain's childhood. It is the artist's sister, Kim Cobain, who has participated as his guide in this project .

To further the experience of Kurt Cobain's life, Bacon also purchased a 7,620 square meter building in the center of Aberdeen, with the aim of converting it into a Tribute Lounge and Gallery Café. The Lounge and Café would be “the go-to center for information, tours, and exclusive transportation to the family home”, which is a mile and a half away.

There will be no cost to enter the café or the house. The house is located in a residential location, so the tours will be done on special days, events or happenings by special request. "We're working out the logistics of what it could look like," Bacon said.
