Once the month of August is over, it is time to face the return to the office in a new work model that will combine face-to-face staff with remote work. The pandemic imposed teleworking and, although the health situation has improved, the new hybrid work system is here to stay.
September inaugurates a new course and there are many companies that these days value the way in which their workers join their jobs. Effectively controlling the time management of staff in models that combine physical presence in the office with telecommuting is not an easy matter.
The startup Woffu, born in 2015 as a spin off of Midatel, a web consultancy with more than 20 years of experience in the technology sector, offers a solution in the cloud that answers the many questions that are being asked these days from SMEs to large corporations.
Its platform allows you to verify and control the time your staff spend performing their duties according to the control regulations in force in each country. Now, your tool becomes essential to integrate time management in the post-pandemic era.
"We realized that large companies recorded vacations and absence days in Excel sheets; it was inefficient and created a lot of friction. We saw that we could do something to change it and we started developing the platform at the beginning of 2015", explains Laia Hernando , Chief Operations Officer of Woffu.
Laia Hernando is Woffu's Chief Operations Officer.
"The multiple colors and tabs of Excel were transformed into a solution that optimizes this entire process in an intuitive, efficient and fluid way, which today more than 1,500 clients and 300,000 users enjoy", adds the person in charge.
The new labor reality and the legislative framework for teleworking recently developed by the Government become an opportunity for its tool to respond to the new demands of companies from now on.
"The teleworking law reinforces the message of the previous Time Control Law: if you don't control your people's time, you can't know exactly if an employee works from home or not, how many hours of effective work they do or if they do overtime," says Laia Hernando.

"We see it as an opportunity to control employee time and provide those same employees with transparency about their most important asset: time."
Transparency in records
For Woffu, the great challenge for Human Resources departments is "to continue maintaining order and control of its processes and its people".
"The regulations establish that you must continue to record and record the actual working time, even if you telecommute. In addition, the worker has the right to digital disconnection and the possibility of having visibility over their hours worked," asserts Hernando.
This great challenge can only be assumed thanks to digital solutions such as Woffu that help Human Resources departments to validate if their employees are connected, working and available or, on the contrary, if they are on break, taking care of a family member or vacations, they explain from the startup.
"At a time when task overload is more real than ever, it is necessary to have digital and collaborative solutions that help companies save time and costs in managing and automating those bureaucratic, administrative processes that do not add value to the business, but they are absolutely necessary.
The cloud solution proposed by Woffu helps the Human Resources of companies to control the time management of workers in the post-pandemic era.
Woffu's accumulated experience -it increased its workforce by 250% between 2018 and 2020- currently allows it to be well positioned to address new work challenges and position itself as a benchmark in time management optimization
Its clients are very heterogeneous, from companies with 10 employees to multinationals with more than 1,000 workers. "This is exactly what we want to continue doing: extend the concept of liquid work to all companies, regardless of the sector in which they work," says Laia Hernando.
New markets
Woffu has customers and users all over the world. "The focus is and will be international since our solution is available in six languages: Spanish, Catalan, English, Portuguese, Italian and French. Although most of the clients are located in Spain, we plan to focus on other markets soon" , they point out from the startup.
The business model is pay-per-use with plans that adapt to the needs of each company.
Among the most used functionalities in the application is the digital signing of employees, which allows recording the number of hours worked and overtime, and also knowing where they are thanks to its geolocation system.
