This Saturday "Emburriando" is screened, a short documentary about skates, blows and a lot of rolling
“Emburriando” is a short documentary about La Güestia Roller Derby , the first and only roller derby team in Asturias, a contact sport on skates that was born in the United States. With the intention of making women's sport visible, the Puru Remangu clothing brand produced this audiovisual work that premiered on May 9 on YouTube and social networks and will be screened this Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at the CSA L'Apiaderu -in El Remediu , in Nava-, as part of a talk given by players from La Güestia Roller Derby.
According to the Dictionary of the Academy of the Asturian Language, to bully is to "make force [against someone or someone to move, to help]" or "to help someone who does not dare to achieve a goal]", that is why Puru Remangu took this concept to shape this documentary that talks about fellowship, sisterhood, self-organization, feminism, struggle and overcoming, as well as reflecting the commitment of La Güestia Roller Derby with Asturian culture and the rural world.
Puru Remangu participated in the creation of “Emburriando” with the idea and the script, Feeling Movie with the audiovisual production, Fruela 757 with the original soundtrack, Aida Holgado with the photographs and several players from La Güestia Roller Derby. Since its premiere, the short documentary has had almost 10,000 views on different social networks and the screening on Saturday will be one more step to deepen the visibility of women's sports.
With "Emburriando", Puru Remangu advanced in its work of not only being a clothing brand, but also developing an entire cultural and creative project based on giving strength and visibility to the identity of Asturian women from a feminist and innovative perspective. In this sense, in addition to selling clothing, in December 2020 she published the book “Güeli. Histories d'amor y remangu” -which is now in its third edition-, and works every day through her Instagram, spreading messages on topics such as the rural world, mental health, the environment, work-life balance or female pleasure.
