The chignon is a timeless classic that saves many awkward situations: depending on its style, it can be the perfect hairstyle for more formal occasions, or a handy way to prevent hair from getting in the way.

In autumn, it is perfect for going to work at the office (more informal) or going to meetings, since it also gives a certain seriousness: "During the day we can wear a messy low bun, which, in addition to being comfortable, feels wonderful and that we can to do by picking up the hair with your hands (the more undone the better). Another option is to leave the front strands loose to give a more casual touch", says María del Mar Peón, head of the Menta Beauty Place salon on Calle Agustín de Foxá, 24 in Madrid.

To this, the professional from the Madrid salon adds: "If we want to achieve a more sophisticated look, the best thing is an ultra-polished low bun, adding a little serum to add shine and definition. The casual high bun is also a look suitable for any occasion , simple and easy to make, very appropriate to wear at all times and always be well-groomed and with a natural effect, with bangs, loose locks... and we can also add accessories such as scarves or scrunchies". To Paul Tudor, director of the David Künzle Fuencarral salon, one of the chignons that she likes the most is the bun, especially for brides: "It is a ballerina-type chignon that can be done high or low, and always without tightening it too much, you have to leave it a little loose as more wild and bohemian, unstructured and casual, so as not to appear too strict or stuffy. We always say the same thing, it's a wedding, not a job interview."

Something that must be taken into account if we abuse them a lot, is the frizz. At the Lobelia Sagasta center they are experts in bows (they make them especially for brides) and they often come across this problem: "Today there are many anti-frizz products if the continued use of bows manages to alter it, such as sprays or others enriched with acid hyaluronic that redefine and hydrate, but also oils, foams or express masks", he explains.

To the latter, she adds: "A piece of advice is to texturize the hair (give it volume) before making the bow. Personally, I really like the messy bows that we can make ourselves, always letting some strands fall."

The ponytail-bun and the elongated bun are also very fashionable, as well as loose and semi-updos. Another that should never be missing is the well-polished chignon, which is also super-elegant, as Danilo Da Silva acknowledges us from the StudioD salon (Carrer de Sants, 25) in Barcelona: "Everything must be combed back, leaving it tight, and then pin it ( without weighing it down) with lacquer or gel. Or the ultra-polished ones, which stylize a lot and are ideal with a line in the middle or on one side".
