Gaia Ecocrianza celebrated its 7th anniversary since it opened its doors to meet the needs of children from 0 to 5 years old and their parents. Since its inception, the organic childcare store has defended responsible breeding, with products that respect the environment, as well as creating a space for family gatherings. XOAN A. SOLER
Childcare, sports or fashion stores distance themselves from the discount war for clashing with their principles

The Black Friday trend broke out a few years ago and changed consumption habits in many homes, where Christmas purchases are brought forward and other purchases are delayed to take advantage of the avalanche of discounts on Black Friday (celebrated on the last Friday of the month). Large and small businesses have been dragged by this dynamic and respond, with more or less forcefulness, to the price war. But there are also those who rebel. In Compostela, among the outsiders that stand out from the November sales, there are everything from childcare stores to sports or fashion stores.
The three mothers behind Gaia Ecocrianza explain that they have been refusing to participate in Black Friday for years because "it clashes with our principles" as consumers, as vendors and as social agents concerned about the environment in which they live . Miriam, Elena and Sonia defend a responsible and sustainable form of consumption from their eco-store, "for this reason we promote a second-hand item market for two products that we know better: washable leathers, baby carriers, breeding books and wooden toys"; so that promoting false needs and overconsumption to increase sales goes directly against their philosophy. For them, profitability cannot override responsibility.
At Amancio Deportes they also don't believe in Black Friday and they do believe in Green Friday. «It is extremely harmful for small businesses, for the concept of circular economy and, most importantly, for the very sustainability of the planet. For these reasons, and two of our clients and the majority of our colleagues share or seem to share, we do not want to celebrate”, announces through its social networks the establishment founded by the Santiago Amancio García more than 30 years ago.
