Travel light, comfortable, stylish: like a pro

Has it ever happened to you before going through security at an airport, that a person opens his suitcase and you realize: either how well you pack or the great opportunity you have to pack less and better? From frequent travelers we can learn several things when packing for a business trip and still keep it in style. It all starts with simplifying and carrying only what you really need. Each of us needs different things, and as you get to know each other on trips, you realize that there are things that you carry out of habit and “just in case”, that only add weight and take up space in your suitcase.

Pack like a frequent flyer without getting lost along the way.

  1. Suitcase.

It all starts with the suitcase. It is worth investing in good quality, lightweight travel bags that will also protect your clothes from any weather, and are easy to move around. My favorite is the one from Briggs & Riley that even has room for the computer. I also find the polycarbonate ones from Samsonite and Vitorinox very good, which in addition to being light, have integrated TSA locks in case you need to document your suitcase at the last minute.

Traveling light means traveling without checking your bag if you are traveling for less than a week. The lost time and logistical disruption of clothing due to a lost suitcase is not worth the risk on particularly short trips.

Store your suitcase after every trip with your grooming kit ready, charger set, and packing bins.

  1. Personal hygiene kit.

Use the products offered at the hotel such as soap, shampoo, creams and cottons, among others. If you plan to use very special items, load a maximum of the allowed portions (bottles of maximum 100ml, which do not add up to more than 1lt). Obviously, toothpaste, deodorant, lotion/perfume, antibacterial gel (always on hand) in their smallest presentations and without exceeding the amounts allowed to carry on board. Consider that you can buy products from various brands packaged as a sample type.

  1. What and how much clothes to pack?

Buy the idea that traveling light on many occasions means simplifying your style, but never losing it.

Start by getting into the habit of checking the weather and the dress code you need to consider before you go anywhere. This way you avoid taking things for a walk.

  1. Pack

Day pack clothes into Eagle Creek (lighter) or Samsonite. Pack from earrings to socks. To save space, visit Mary Kondo's folding method videos.

  1. Travel like a pro

In particular, I am obsessed with putting my things in a clean area when going through security at airports, and not leaving with someone else's "on" bacteria. For this reason, I carry some recyclable sheets or advertising, which I put in the bottom of the baskets on which you put the computer, the bag and the jacket, and which I throw away when returning the baskets.

Travel light, travel comfortable, and travel in style. It is more complicated to want to carry everything you want, and not necessarily need.
