The deaths of the wife and the son are still without resolving
According to the SLED, Murdough called 911 on June 7 and said he had come home and found his wife, Margaret, and his son Paul dead shot out of his home in Iceland, a small community in one hour north ofHilton Head Island.Colleton County Sheriff agents determined that both had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
SLED took care of the investigation, but the case is still not resolved.Alex Murdough announced a reward of 100.000 dollars for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for their deaths.
Alex Murdough is seen leaving a judicial hearing in 2019.
"I ask the audience to be patient and let the investigation continue its course," said SLED chief Mark Keel, in a statement in June."This case is complex and we are not going to precipitate ourselves in this or in any investigation".
The family has stood out in the legal community of South Carolina for decades: for 87 consecutive years, three generations of Murdoughs - including Alex's father, Randolph Murdough II - held the position of attorney of the 14th circuit, which covers the counties ofAllendale, Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper.
According to the 14th circuit attorney's office, the current attorney is the first outside the Murdough family that occupies the elected office.
Alex's brothers, Randy and John Marvin, referred to the perception of this family role in an interview with the "Good Morning America" program of the ABC chain in June in June.
"You see that words like 'dynasty' and 'power' are used, and I don't know exactly how people use those words," said Randy Murdough."But we are normal people, and it hurts the same thing that would hurt them if this had happened to them".
"I can't imagine the horror my brother is living," he said.
