Students who have participated in the Critical Thinking program.
Training professionals in the new economy - Information
Within these, the programs related to Marketing and Business have evolved and gained weight in recent years to respond to an increasingly competitive and demanding economic and business context, which requires well-trained professionals. prepared, with transversal values and competences.
For this reason, the CEU Cardenal Herrera University in Elche has been strengthening its faculty for years with the collaboration of prominent professionals from the business field who complement and reinforce the theoretical and practical training that students receive.
To achieve the success of its students, the university center also has the collaboration of prestigious companies and organizations in different professional sectors thanks to which students can learn about the labor reality through visits to companies, workshops or master classes of a company and its operation in a closer and more real way.
Success lies in the combination
The combination of an academic faculty with active industry professionals, with relevant experience and responsibilities is part of the success of the CEU of Elche in the area of Business and Marketing . Thanks to this union, students have access to professors with accredited research quality who compete with public universities, while receiving first-hand knowledge and experience from managers, who provide a very important added value.
Managers of companies such as Chocolates Valor, Terminales Marítimas de Sureste S.A. or BBVA are some of the professionals we have in the faculty, joining the agreements that companies like Panama Jack provide students with access to a modern higher education with subjects related to business creation and innovation, logistics and production, international marketing... And all this with the advantage that the number of students per classroom is reduced, promoting personalized attention.
Reasons, as pointed out by the CEU, for which the number of enrollments grows each year, being the students themselves the ones who, through word of mouth and the recommendations that the CEU makes to friends and family, promote this increase.
When thinking critically enriches college students
Students in the Business, Marketing and Law degrees have received the diploma certifying their participation in the Critical Thinking programme, a project to develop thinking and the generation of creative ideas as a strategic tool for the future professionals. And they have done it for two months, in English, analyzing and working on texts proposed by Bruno Teles, from the University of Oklahoma and Director Of Business Development at Black Oak Partners LLC.
This project of readings, debates and reflections has been coordinated by Professor Julián Sánchez, and has sought to confront critical thinking in the face of the unstoppable advance of artificial intelligence, which it is assured will gradually displace human labor in favor of technology.
In the ten sessions they have addressed issues such as understanding the company as a transformation tool and the concept of Social Entrepreneurship, as well as how companies develop their strategy, how the Economy works, how an industry is analyzed and how your organization can take advantage of environment. Also in knowing and applying the blue ocean strategy, to make the competition irrelevant, as well as learning how to get the best out of people and how to guide them through inspiration.
Visit and knowledge of Panama Jack, one of the main footwear firms
The practical training of the students of Business Management and Marketing of the CEU of Elche is a constant throughout their university journey . And knowing the entire production process of the brand is essential. For this reason, they have learned how the product of one of the main international footwear firms, based in Elche, is made: Panama Jack.
A moment of product management training at Panama Jack.
For a few hours they checked the different manufacturing phases of the mythical boots. From cutting to packaging, going through the lowering, dressing, assembly and finishing. During their visit, they explained the process from when an order arrives at the commercial department, until it is consolidated and passes as a production order to the factory. These orders serve as the basis for generating orders for all the components that are part of the price tag for each model.
They have been able to observe how the quality control that is reflected in the final product is evident in all phases of the production process, and how Panama Jack is one of the footwear brands where the brand has a fundamental preponderance within the product in Yeah.
"I feel that I have grown a lot as a student and as a person while at CEU"
Juan José Ledesma Bear, American student of the CEU's double degree in Business Management and Marketing
Juan Jose Ledesma Bear.
Juan José Ledesma was instilled with a passion for soccer while he was studying in the North American city of San Antonio, in Texas. There he took his first steps as a player, in the San Antonio Scorpions, of the North American Soccer League (NASL). When he moved to Spain, his idea was to continue playing for a Spanish team, Intercity, from Alicante. However, he had to choose between soccer and his university studies. Finally, he went from soccer to study Business and Marketing in Elche, at the UCH-CEU, of which his level and personalized attention stand out. This passionate about sports and the universe of crypto assets hopes that his training will lead him to entrepreneurship.
– Why did you decide to study your university degree at the CEU in Elche?
I came with the intention of playing professional soccer for Intercity in Alicante and studying. He wanted to look for a prestigious university with a style similar to the one in the United States. Knowing that they only counted one year of my studies in Austin Texas, I decided to quit soccer and focus on my career.
– How has the experience been so far, after having completed one year and being in the second year of the degree?
I feel very happy being in Spain. Above all, I feel that I have grown a lot as a student and as a person while at the CEU. And living with new people always makes me happy.
– So far, what attracts you the most about the degree you have chosen?
The opportunity to enter the business world, whether through marketing, accounting, finance or business management. I already have the doors open to that world and I would just like to continue learning more and more.
– How is your relationship with your college classmates?
My relationship with my classmates is very nice, they give me a lot of support, especially if I need help with my subjects. We live inside and outside the university. And I just hope to make more friends while I'm here.
– How are you living the experience of being in a different country, with a different culture and another form of education?
At first, it gave me a bit of culture shock, since I came from the United States, with a mixed Mexican-American culture. And when I got here, seeing different things, different cultures, different languages, it scared me from the start. But only because it's all new. Now I feel very comfortable being able to live with new things and continue discovering.
– Where do you want to direct your professional steps when you finish your degree?
Take my father's business and make it more international and eventually open stores in Europe. Or start a food business.
"The training received at the University allows me to make more correct decisions in my business organization"
Mario Puche, student of the double degree in Business Management and Marketing.
< article>Mario Puche.
– What course are you in right now and what degree?
Currently, I am in the last year of the Business Administration and Management degree.
– Why did you decide to study this degree at the CEU?
At that time, I wasn't completely sure if after so many years (Computer Science at the UA) I wanted to continue studying, but my closest friends, those who were studying at the CEU, recommended that, due to the high volume of business I had at that time, it was good to receive training related to business management, and the CEU was my place.
It was then that I called the University secretary to receive information about this degree. Ana Isabel attended me at the University facilities, where she showed me, among other things, the trajectory of the teachers, the training I was going to receive during the degree, how it could help me in my day-to-day business, and I left completely convinced. .
– What has the training you receive at the CEU provided you?
I always say that the CEU has provided me with a series of knowledge and cultural enrichment that I will be grateful for for life. When I started in the world of entrepreneurship, I did not have any kind of knowledge about the operation of a company. However, to this day, I have the notions to interpret what a lawyer, a tax advisor, transmits to me.
When you run an organization innately, you often perform actions or make certain decisions that, in my case, thanks to the training I have received, I try to do more correctly, being very beneficial for the present and future of the organization. organization. Finally, personally, for me it is important to highlight all the personal relationships that I have thanks to the institution, both as students and teachers.
– You have been appointed a member of the JOVEMPA Board of Directors. What does this appointment mean for you, at your age?
Well, to be honest, I was shocked when I received this proposal from an institution with so much weight and experience in the city of Alicante. After a few months, I can understand her decision. Currently, the average age of the Association's members has been increasing. Being the Official Association of Young Entrepreneurs, we must advocate for entrepreneurship in society, support them, and seek help to encourage them to undertake, and whoever is doing it in the best way. We are currently a completely renewed Board of Directors, with our president Alfonso at the helm, with whom I am sure we will achieve great achievements in a short time.
– What functions or what role are you going to play in JOVEMPA?
The position of all members of the Board is exclusively altruistic. From the president, to all of us who make it up. That is why, each one of the members in a vocational way contributes our grain of sand with the time that allows us to fulfill our obligations. Within it, we are made up of tax advisors, lawyers, orthopedists...
All of them have a great career, from which I learn a lot. In my case, I try to contribute my experience leading an organization for 10 years, marketing strategies, and above all, listening and continuing to learn.
– You have an intense performance as an entrepreneur behind you. At Blit Concept, at Vulcano Cocktails and Drinks, at Magma Club, projects linked to leisure and sport. Why did you decide to enter this field of entrepreneurship?
Mainly the reason for starting a business at just 14 years old is a family issue. Subsequently, I fell in love with my job, being a lifestyle and something I enjoy on a daily basis. Being able to change people's lives and create a better future for them is the only motivation I need. In addition, this drastic year for our sector, I am very excited about everything we have prepared.
– How has the CEU trained you to carry out and develop these projects?
For example, when we were totally immersed in the pandemic, in October of last year, I had all my establishments closed due to regulations, and then I decided to do a 180 degree turn. I started to develop a new project, which, today is known as Blit Concept.
We were facing a scenario where the clientele was increasingly demanding, and taking into account that the target audience that I was working at that time demanded an impossible service due to health circumstances (discotheques), I decided to diversify in a local focused on another type of clientele, where in its 800 square meters you can find gastronomy, author cocktails, from this weekend a dance area... All this reading, in addition to the improvements applied to the establishments that it already had, is thanks to the training I have acquired at the CEU.
– What advice would you give to students who are already studying a degree or who are going to study it?
Let them dedicate themselves to what they are truly passionate about. One of the reasons why I decided to accept joining the Jovempa Board of Directors is because today, when I talk to the vast majority of young people, they want to apply for a permanent position. In the case of being vocational, it seems great to me, but when it is for reasons of securing a job, it seems wrong to me.
If not ask the thousands of Blockbuster workers, who had a permanent job for life... You have to work to live, and not live to work. And as long as time allows you, continue training, learning. After 4 fantastic years, I can say that this is what the CEU has given me, growing as an entrepreneur, as a person, and thanks to this, trying to improve every day.
